Let's take a new look at what conifers have to offer our industry where we want to create successful gardens. As drought and heat tolerant plants, conifers can replace vulnerable old favorites and instead play numerous roles in our gardens where water bans are becoming prevalent. If properly selected for shape/size, conifers can take on the role of perennials, shrubs and focal points, needing only minimal intervention when well sited. This lecture pushes past our old ideas to the modern world of conifers: a myriad array of funky, fun, colorful and unique shapes and sizes to enhance any garden.
